Pamela Ricard, a former math teacher in the Geary School District, recently won a $95,000 settlement from the school district after being unfairly punished for refusing to use a student’s preferred pronouns. Ricard, who is a Christian, stood her ground against the district and was suspended for three days back in March 2021. Despite threats of a blemish on her record and further disciplinary action, Ricard continued to refuse to betray her principles. As a result, the court that tried the case didn’t care for Ms. Ricard’s rights being trampled and ruled in her favor. Folks, it may take a little courage, but sometimes the good guys win.
